The HEART Team received a $2,000 grant from LDBICE for an auxiliary Kicker Motor to enhance trolling abilities and sonar detail, aiding in search and rescue efforts for drowning victims since 2016. Comprising six members, including Hutterite community, the team assists in locating missing individuals nationwide at no cost. Upgraded motor hampers slow trolling; Kicker Motor aids in precise sonar scans, offering closure to affected families.

The Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home received a $2,000 LDBICE Grant for a Smart TV to improve Virtual Programming for Residents. The Smart TV will offer internet access for:

  • YouTube videos for entertainment, church services, and reminiscing programs

  • Netflix for movies/shows when recreational programs are not on

  • Fun videos

  • Virtual visits on a big screen. Due to the pandemic, visitation restrictions were in place, prompting the Recreation Department to use more technology. Virtual programs became vital since in-person services were unavailable. The Smart TV will make programs more accessible, provide a better view on a large screen, and offer diverse programming based on residents' interests.

Eastman Snopals, the esteemed Lac du Bonnet snowmobile club, was thrilled to receive a generous $2,000 grant from LDBICE in 2007 specifically designated for purchasing new groomer cleats. Their primary objectives include ensuring the safety of snowmobilers, keeping the trails well-maintained, and fostering positive relationships within the community. With specialized groomers at their disposal, the club meticulously maintains the trails, equipping each track with a total of 66 cleats. Regularly replacing worn cleats is a top priority to guarantee safety and uphold the quality of the trails. The club recognizes that pristine trails not only benefit the local snowmobiling enthusiasts but also entice tourists to partake in winter activities, consequently boosting the area's economy.

The Lac du Bonnet Community Garden was happy to receive a $2,000 grant to upgrade its infrastructure. Established in 2022, it offers different plot sizes and features like a greenhouse, shed, raised beds, and irrigation system. It promotes winter gardening for outdoor activity, healthy food access, and community bonds. With over 20 gardeners, it enhances well-being, eating habits, and local food support. It provided 1,200 pounds of produce to the LdB Food Bank last year. Future plans include workshops on food preservation and partnerships with schools for community benefit.

The ACL Beausejour Branch received an LDBICE Grant for a $2,000 Backyard Renovation project to create an accessible outdoor space for adults with intellectual disabilities. They offer Day and Residential Services to clients in various communities and partner with local schools for student transitions. The project aims to enhance well-being by installing a 'We-Go-Swing' and improving the backyard area with a sitting area, deck updates, and widened pathways. The renovated backyard will provide a sense of belonging and inclusivity. The annual plant sale supports the program and community engagement. Visit www.aclbb.com for more information.
